Visalia offers new shopping choices

During 2004, the second of two major shopping centers opened its doors to anxious consumers.

Park Place Promenade held a grand opening for Kohl's department store in April and will soon see Sequoia Mall transplants Ross and the Men's Wearhouse open new stores, and welcome a newcomer to Visalia, the Dress Barn.

The four major stores will occupy the largest spaces at the shopping center on the southeast corner of Mooney Boulevard and Walnut Avenue across the street from the Visalia Mall.

The center also houses three smaller "strip-type" malls on the main grounds with room for smaller retail shops, food outlets and other commercial businesses.

Late in 2003, Packwood Creek opened its anchor stores Target Greatland on the west side of Mooney Boulevard and Best Buy and Lowe's on the east side.

The shops were quickly followed by new restaurants and fast-food outlets which have all done a brisk business since opening.
